Bruce Springsteen may have been born to run, but baby, I was born to cook. I started cooking (supervised, of course!) at age 7 with my mom and great Aunt Lily. I attended college for a year but dropped out when I got the opportunity to study at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. I flew to Paris the day after my nineteenth birthday and I haven’t looked back! Living and studying in Paris for a year was transformative to a teenager who came from a small town in Maine. After returning to the United States I began my restaurant career and after several years in restaurants I decided that I needed to gain more knowledge and expand my horizon. With that in mind I enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. I have worked in restaurants in New York, Maine and the Island of St. John. As much as I love to cook, it was clear that the life of a restaurant chef was not for me. Long hours and little pay took its toll.
In 1999 I found a new home in the San Francisco Bay Area and spent several years working in the wine industry before I returned to my true calling, cooking. In 2005 I established the Studio of Good Living after a close friend passed away due to illness. I started to look at food and my work as a chef differently. I wanted to work with people and teach them about their own nutritional requirements and how to incorporate that knowledge into delicious meals and snacks that they enjoy eating. I believe that everyone should be able to eat fresh, healthy and tasty food regardless of circumstance.
Over the years I have expanded the company to include cooking classes, personal chef services, catering and meal delivery services. Whether you need to learn some basic cooking techniques, have a few questions for our culinary counselors or need a caterer for your event, we can help!

Phoebe and I met back in 2000 while working in the wine industry, enjoying the adventures of eating at great restaurants in the Bay Area and drinking good wine. Beside our growing families, not a whole lot has changed. Food has always been a prominent part of my life. Between my experiences in the kitchen with my always-cooking-Sicilian Grandmother to the adventurous culinary creations my Father would explore, I have always been a fan of good food! I spent my early years working the fine dining restaurant circuit on the Peninsula. I built upon my experiences in front of the house management and catering and never with less than three jobs at a time, I graduated college and went onto a naturally evolving path to market what I love…Food!
My ventures in marketing great food rocketed when I joined Whole Foods Market in 2004 building upon their brand in creating a regional culinary and catering program and educating others on healthier choices. It was a natural transition to talk about food and how one can make a few simple and often small changes and get drastic results. The Studio of Good Living is a wonderful example of the passion that Phoebe and I share for great food and a testament to believing that Life is Beautiful by Design!
