Iron Chef Competition Classes
We offer a variety of timed cooking competitions that are influenced by Iron Chef and Chopped.
With our professional Chefs as coaches, each group is divided into teams and has 3 minutes to come up with a team name and team captain. Depending on the theme of the competition each group will have between 1- 3 ‘main’ ingredients to work with (i.e., protein, starch, and veg). The captain then has 30 seconds to select garnishes from the chef’s pantry, while their teammates cheer them on. Each team then has 30 minutes -1 hour depending on the competition to create and finish their dish. Photo by Cozymeal
Criteria for judging includes: Presentation, Taste, Communication, Cleanliness, and Teamwork. After the judging, we will sit down for a communal meal.
Some popular competition themes:
- The Company Sushi Roll
- The Pasta Workshop
- Kitchen Face Off –Pizza!
- California Seasonal Bounty

Prepare and enjoy a complete French dinner of gougeres, warm goat cheese salad with lardons, sole veronique or coq au vin, pommes gratine, seasonal vegetables and vanilla bean or chocolate creme brulee or ouefs a la neige.
Country French Dinner
Learn the ins and outs of French cooking and feast on flammakuchen (alsation open-faced tart), frisee salad, ouefs en meurette, traditional duck and sausage cassoulet and gateau basque.
“The event was a huge success! Everyone was engaged at the level they felt comfortable and each person was able to experience several stations to learn a variety of skills. The meal which was prepared was exceptional. Who knew a bunch of engineers could create a 5-star dining experience? The next day all of the participants were commenting on what a wonderful experience it was.”
“We were very happy with Phoebe and her team. The food was absolutely wonderful and Phoebe did a great job of explaining the process of making Sushi, the history, etc. We all learned a lot in this class. We also loved the location in North Beach and the kitchen made for a nice, intimate gathering. We were very happy with this experience overall.”
